Talk:Smart Traffic Light Module

I really like this idea. I wonder how long it would take to make up the additional cost of the LEDs in energy savings, and in savings from not having to to replace incandescent bulbs (and the labor that goes along with the task).

I also wonder if these lights could end up being safer in the long run. For instance, if they were able to adjust themselves for maximum visibility in rainy conditions (perhaps using a moisture sensor), foggy conditions, etc., they might actually prove themselves over time to be statistically more effective and hence safer.

Potentially the backwards-pointing light sensor can be pointing at the next traffic light and measuring it's perceived brightness, and thus tell THIS light it'd better crank itself up.
Also note that this article is not about replacing incandescent bulbs with LED's: it's already being done. It's about the smarter LED module. (I devised it after one of those LED traffic lights burned my eyes at 3am.) -- Wesha 05:06, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
