Preface

The idea is to use a heat exchanger in conjunction with a solar HVAC system to provide solar hot water and solar HVAC.

Problems with existing designs

One of the drawbacks of solar hot water is that the consumption of hot water may not coincide with peak available solar power. Solar HVAC can use liquids heated by solar collectors to drive an HVAC system. The heated liquids used for HVAC should be able to provide the heat for the hot water and the HVAC. This might allow more tax credits and wider adoption in addition to lower overall installation costs.

Claims

  1. A system which uses liquids heated by solar collectors to drive an HVAC system.
